Ahisaun Foundation to support the construction

is currently working with the Ahisaun Foundation to support the construction of a new education, training and accommodation centre in the village of Kukoa in the Timorese highlands. Ahisaun provides education programs and accommodation for physically disabled students and currently operates a centre in Dili, the Timorese capital. Through the new centre in Kukoa, Ahisaun aims to extend its support network into the highlands, developing greater enrolment capacity and to provide the same high educative standards and opportunities to students in the highlands as it currently does in the capital.

The relationship between Plus1 and Ahisaun begun in 2010 when Mike travelled to Timor on a teaching trip, where he met with Ahisauns founder, Padre Adriano. Plus1 became very excited by the possibilities that a new education centre in Kukoa would provide, and entered into a supportive relationship with Ahisaun, sourcing funds for the school.
